Tech Reunions welcomed more than 3,500 alumni and guests to MIT’s campus June 8–11. The festivities included more than 150 events, including the 120th Tech Night at Pops, featuring pianist Sylvain Carpentier, PhD ’17. The first MIT graduate student soloist, Carpentier received his PhD in mathematics the same day. Alumni and guests convened on campus for a late-night Pops Encore Party on Friday night and for the Toast to Tech dance party Saturday night. Faculty shared their research during Tech Day in a series of talks titled “Designing Life to Spec: Addressing the World’s Challenges in Health and Sustainability.” The Tech Challenge Games were renamed to honor their founders, Bonny Kellermann ’72 and Bob Ferrara ’67. At the Technology Day luncheon, class-giving representatives announced fund-raising totals to date that amounted to $124 million.
