MIT Enterprise Forum Phoenix to host artificial intelligence and machine learning event
MIT Professor and Computer Science Luminary Dr. Joel Moses to be Interviewed by MIT Technology Review Editor In Chief Jason Pontin
Phoenix, AZ—January 28, 2015: The MIT Enterprise Forum Phoenix (www.mitefphoenix.org) will host an event on machine learning and artificial intelligence at the Arizona Science Center on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Featuring computer science pioneer, luminary, and MIT professor Dr. Joel Moses, as well as award-winning MIT Technology Review publisher and editor in chief Jason Pontin, the event promises to be an enlightening and lively one on the current and future state of computer science.
The event, “Machine Learning: History, Present State, Future Implications” will cover the broad implications advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence will have for society, both in the short and long term. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. after a networking reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at https://mitmachinelearning.splashthat.com/.
About the Speakers
A respected luminary and senior statesman of computer technology, Dr. Joel Moses (www.esd.mit.edu/Faculty_Pages/moses/moses.htm) is one of only 13 Institute Professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the highest honor the Institute grants. He has served as MIT’s Provost, Dean of Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, overseeing the program’s growth into the thought leader on computer science research. He is also a co-developer of the Knowledge-Based Systems concept in Artificial Intelligence and was featured in “Plug & Pray,” a 2010 documentary on the promise of artificial intelligence and robotics.
Jason Pontin is one of the technology industry’s spokespersons and has been featured as a guest speaker on TED talks. Jason is editor in chief and publisher of MIT Technology Review. He directs the editorial, platform development, and general business strategy of digital and print publications, as well as MIT Technology Review-sponsored events. Before joining MIT Technology Review in 2004, he was the editor in chief of a biotechnology magazine he founded. Between 1996 and 2002, he was the editor of Red Herring magazine, which the Wall Street Journal called the ‘bible of the dot-com boom.’
