MIT Enterprise Forum brings global entrepreneurship home to Boston
Cambridge, MA – June 12, 2017
MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) is connecting its global community of entrepreneurs to its roots in Boston and Cambridge with two weeklong conferences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The winners of MIT Enterprise Forum Thailand and MIT Enterprise Forum Poland’s local startup competitions will participate in a series of workshops to hone their business skills, visit labs, connect with local collaborators, pitch to potential investors, and learn about what it means to do business in the U.S.
MITEF will celebrate these talented entrepreneurs at MITEF Thailand Demo Day on June 19 at Samberg Conference Center and MITEF Poland Demo Day on June 27 at the MIT Media Lab.
The events will showcase both local and international talent, featuring local founders and investors David Cancel of Drift, Assaf Biderman of Superpedestrian, Jan Schnorr of C2Sense, Monica Weber of Fluid-Screen, Marina Hatsopoulos of Windy Street Capital, Scott Miller of Bolt, and Eveline Buchatskiy of Boston Techstars, as well as pitches by MITEF’s winning startups.
The 12 participating startups are the best of the best from their countries, and represent diverse, impactful technologies—among them, robot-assisted communication therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders, a real-estate platform for underutilized retail spaces, cutting-edge medical diagnostic tools, and a sales assistant powered by artificial intelligence.

Many of the teams hope to expand their businesses and to establish their U.S. presence in Boston.
“The environment for innovation in Thailand is fairly new, and MIT Enterprise Forum has worked to encourage that entrepreneurial spirit,” explains Edward Rubesch, Director of MIT Enterprise Forum Thailand. “We hope to help our startups move on to the next phase, whether that’s rethinking their business model or scaling globally, by connecting them to MIT and to the Boston community.”
While in Boston, the startup teams will have the opportunity to learn from MIT Sloan faculty and lecturers like Bill Aulet from the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship, David Birnbach, and Charlie Tilett, as well as entrepreneur-in-residence Donna Levin. They will also be connected to researchers and academics at MIT and beyond. The startups will network with the greater Boston entrepreneurial community by participating in a number of local events, including MITEF Cambridge’s Startup Spotlight and the Cambridge Innovation Center’s Venture Café nights.
