MIT Enterprise Forum Announces StartSmart Program
Conference Launching in Greece Seeks to Help Take Startups to The Next Level
Cambridge, MA—October 2, 2014: MIT Enterprise Forum (www.MITEF.org), MIT’s nonprofit global organization dedicated to helping early-stage entrepreneurs succeed faster, is pleased to announce the StartSmart program. StartSmart (www.mitef.org/startsmart) is a one-day conference offering relevant and experience-based programming, giving entrepreneurs the knowledge to help advance their ventures. The conference offers versatile learning opportunities, crafted on the premise that successful entrepreneurship is a learned art supported with a practical and proven methodology.
“StartSmart is an opportunity for people with an idea or a startup to gain the knowledge to take their ventures to the next level,” states Kathleen Kennedy, president of MIT Enterprise Forum and MIT Technology Review. “This event is our mission in action—enabling technology entrepreneurs to transform ideas into world-changing companies.”
The first of these signature events, organized by the MIT Enterprise Forum Greece chapter (www.mitefgreece.org), takes place in Athens on October 21, 2014. StartSmart Greece includes case studies and lessons from successful technology entrepreneurs and investors, interactive workshops such as “idea-to-market process,” panels of thought leaders and industry experts, a pitch platform showcasing talented local entrepreneurs, networking opportunities, and a startup showcase. All members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including entrepreneurs, investors, industry representatives, thought leaders, technologists, and academics, are invited to attend.
Speakers include Dr. Anmol Maden, co-founder and CEO of Ginger.io, Marina Hatsopoulos, entrepreneur and angel investor, Hind Hobeika, founder and CEO of Instabeat and previous winner of the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Business Plan Competition, Roozbeh Ghaffari, co-founder and Director of Advanced Technology at MC10, Inc., and Hussein Kanji, founding partner of Hoxton Ventures.
MIT Enterprise Forum Greece also announces its first-ever startup competition, where local entrepreneurs will compete for prizes that will further their startup goals. Qualifying participants gain access to workshops and mentorship to refine all aspects of their ventures, gaining the skills needed to commercialize their technology. Nominations open on November 17.
