Google Offers Hurricane Data Map

New site combines data from Google Maps, National Hurricane Center, and others in Hurricane Sandy tracking map.

If, like myself, you want more information about Hurricane
Sandy’s path up the East Coast and evacuation shelters, and your Internet
service hasn¹t been knocked out by the storm, Google is offering an online
map view with information from several different sources.

Available at Google.org/crisismap/2012-sandy, the map allows
users to see data from Google Maps, the National Hurricane Center, National
Weather Service, American Red Cross, Weather.com, and others. Using
filters to choose your content, you can see a ton of information including the
storm’s current location and where it¹s expected to head next, the location, capacity, and population of emergency shelters, and emergency alerts.

I’m hunkered down in Brooklyn for the storm, so I’ll be keeping this link
open in my browser (unless my Internet service goes down, that is).
